Privacy policy
Vault Up (“the app”) is made by Guptil Developers (“we”). This policy explains what data the app uses, why, where it goes, and how you can delete it.
The short version
- Your goals, deposits and settings are stored on your phone and backed up to a private folder in your own Google Drive.
- We never connect to your bank, never move money and never see your balances.
- The accessibility service only checks which app is opening so it can show the lock screen. It does not read your screen, messages or passwords.
- We don’t sell your data, and we don’t show ads.
- You can delete your account and data at any time, in the app or online.
Data we collect
- Account information: your name, email address, profile photo and Google user ID, when you sign in with Google. Used to create your account (Firebase Authentication) and to show your name in the app.
- Your savings data: goals, target amounts, deposits and withdrawals, income sources, savings plan, currency and app settings. Stored on your phone and, if backup is on, in your Google Drive (see below).
- Usage statistics: anonymous events such as “a goal was created” or “a deposit was added”, plus basic device information, through Google Analytics for Firebase. These never include amounts, goal names, notes or the apps you lock. We use them only to understand how the app is used and to improve it.
Data that stays on your phone
- Installed apps: the list of apps on your phone is read only to let you choose which ones to lock. It is never sent anywhere.
- Locked apps, PIN and emergency history: your PIN is stored only as a salted hash. Emergency reasons and notes are kept on your phone and in your own Drive backup.
- Which app is opening: when a locked app opens, the app’s package name is checked on your phone. It is not recorded or sent.
Accessibility service
Vault Up uses Android’s Accessibility Service API for one purpose: to notice when an app you chose to lock comes to the front, and to cover it with the Vault Up lock screen. It doesn’t read the content of any screen, doesn’t log your activity, doesn’t act on your behalf in other apps, and doesn’t collect or share any personal data through this service. You can turn it off at any time in your phone’s settings; the apps simply won’t be locked while it is off.
Google Drive backup
When backup is on, the app saves one file to the hidden app-data folder of your own Google Drive. Only Vault Up can read this folder; we can’t access it from our side. You can turn automatic backup off in Settings → Backup & account, and remove the file at any time (see Delete account).
Services we use
- Google Sign-In and Firebase Authentication (Google LLC): sign-in and account.
- Google Analytics for Firebase (Google LLC): anonymous usage statistics.
- Google Drive API (Google LLC): your backup, in your own Drive.
- Cloudflare: hosts this website and processes online account-deletion requests. It doesn’t store your data.
These providers process data on our behalf under their own privacy terms. We don’t share your data with anyone else.
Security
All data sent by the app travels over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Your PIN is never stored in plain text. Your backup is protected by your Google account.
How long we keep data
- Account information: until you delete your account.
- Savings data and backup: until you delete it, sign out (removes it from your phone) or delete your account.
- Anonymous usage statistics: removed automatically after at most 14 months.
Your choices and rights
- Delete single entries or whole goals in the app at any time.
- Turn off automatic backup in Settings.
- Sign out to remove all data from your phone.
- Delete your account and all associated data in the app (Settings → Delete account) or on this website.
Children
Vault Up is not directed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect data from them.
